Vaccination & Payment Policies

Canine Vaccination/Examination Requirements for Boarding, Daycare & Training

1. 6-Month Bordetella (Kennel Cough) vaccination
Most vets give an annual Bordetella vaccine, but we require it to be boostered every six months due to the high volume of pets at our facility.

2. Canine Influenza (Flu) vaccination – H3N8 & H3N2
This is a two-part series spaced out over several weeks initially, with an annual booster thereafter. Most vets give the first vaccine, then wait three or five weeks before giving the second vaccine. All pets must receive both Canine Influenza vaccinations. After the second vaccine, the Canine Influenza vaccine must be boostered annually.

If you do not keep your pet up to date with the Canine Influenza vaccine, your vet may have to start the series over again, which could take up to five weeks to complete.

  • The Canine Influenza vaccine is not the same as the Canine Parainfluenza vaccine.
  • The Canine Influenza vaccine is not part of the standard protocol at most vets. You may have to ask your vet for this vaccine.
  • Please plan ahead as some vets have a waiting list for vaccines.

3. Negative Fecal Exam (Intestinal Parasite Screening)
You must provide proof of negative Fecal Exam results annually. Pets with positive Fecal Exam results will not be allowed in the facility as this indicates the presence of internal parasites.

Although not required, we recommend getting an annual Heartworm Test (Blood Parasite Screening). Without a Heartworm Test or a Heartworm preventative (Simparica Trio, Heartgard, Interceptor, etc.), a Fecal Exam must be completed every six months.

4. Distemper (Parvo) vaccination
This is a three-part series spaced out over several weeks for puppies, with adult boosters thereafter. After the initial puppy series is completed, the adult boosters are usually given every one to three years, depending on your vet.

5. Rabies vaccination
After the initial Rabies vaccination, adult boosters are usually given every three years.
